Winx is undefeated since breaking through for her maiden win at the highest level in the 2015 edition of the Group 1 Queensland Oaks (2200m), which has included a total of six Group 1 feature races.

Resuming this year for a typically smart win in the Group 2 Apollo Stakes (1400m), Winx subsequently posted comfortable wins in each of the Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m), Group 1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m) and Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m).

Trainer Chris Waller has been thrilled with the Street Cry mare’ condition since she won the Group 2 Warwick Stakes (1400m) first-up this time, and she should prove extremely tough to beat on Saturday from barrier 6, with regular hoop Hugh Bowman in the saddle.

Waller has also confirmed both Spiritjim (barrier 8) and Vanbrugh (barrier 3) in the 2016 George Main Stakes field.

Godolphin will also be offered several good chances of success in the Randwick feature after John O’Shea confirmed both Hauraki and It’s Somewhat in the George Main Stakes field.

Placed a Group 1 level multiple times through his impressive career, Hauraki returned to competition this time for a dominant win in the Group 2 Tramway Stakes (1400m) and will only relish a step up to a mile on Saturday.

It’s Somewhat returned to racing for fourth in the Tramway Stakes and is a proven second-up performer.

Le Romain is drawn on the rails in the George Main Stakes and is another runner who should find his best form over a mile.

Making a successful transition to black type company when second in the Group 3 Eskimo Prince Stakes (1200m) on February 6th, La Romain ran second behind Press Statement in the Group 2 Hobartville Stakes (1400m) before turning the tables in the Group 1 Randwick Guineas (1600m) a fortnight later.

Returning to the paddock after failing to fire and seventh in the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas (2000m), the Flying Spur gelding has finished second in both the Group 3 Show County Quality (1200m) and Tramway Stakes this time in.

Japanese import Tosen Stardom (barrier 7) and the Stuart Webb-trained Great Esteem (barrier 2) complete the 2016 George Main Stakes field.
